This is Malmö Upcycling Service (M.U.S.): working towards circular manufacturing
Malmö Upcycling Service (M.U.S.) IS THE COLLABORATION BETWEEN INDUSTRIAL DESIGNERS EMILIA BORGVALL, BRITT JÖNSSON, ANNA GUDMUNDSDOTTIR AND PAULINE MATIKA. AFTER GRADUATING FROM LUNDS UNIVERSITY WITH A MASTER OF ARTS IN INDUSTRIAL DESIGN, THEY WERE DRAWN TOGETHER BY A MUTUAL INTEREST IN MATERIAL EXPERIMENTATION AND AN ENTHUSIASM TO WORK WITH LOCAL MANUFACTURERS AND CRAFTSMEN.
odds & ends
With a selection of waste materials, collected from six different local industries, M.U.S. has developed the collection Odds & Ends. The idea has been to explore the conditions for design within the framework of circular economy.
M.U.S. has experimented and explored how the waste material can be reintroduced into the production of local industries. How it through simple means can be processed and assembled into new decorative home objects.
The collection consists of 11 objects where all are assembled in a way that makes it possible to separate the pieces again.

The collaboration aims to rethink design processes, question the role of the designer and democratize production methods. With recycled materials as a base for local production it is possible to make personal and unique products on a small scale.
