ute has been described as "queen of ethical jewelry" and cited by the uk crafts council as "a leading proponent of ethical jewelry" ute decker was one of the worldwide first Fairtrade Gold licence-holders and is regularly invited to write and speak on ethical jewelry.

when i started as a studio-jeweller it was a major time-consuming challenge to find practical information on how to work in a sustainable manner. so on my website i started sharing my research, suppliers and whatever useful information i have found on the way

in Fairtrade Gold and recycled silver have been exhibited internationally in more than 50 exhibitions from paris, tokyo, amsterdam, london, new york to design basel with renowned galleries such as didier ltd and elisabetta cipriani.

recently featured as one of the uk’s top 10 jewellers the work of ute decker is in several notable collections including the alice and louis koch collection, helen drutt collection, tuan lee collection, nancy olnick collection, musee barbier-mueller as well as the victoria & albert museum.

zaha hadid selected a piece by ute decker as one of the highlights of the 2014 goldsmiths' fair, while for the 2015 highlights showcase curated by the co-director of the serpentine gallery, julia peyton-jones chose one of ute's signature hand sculptures.
