It’s estimated that Americans throw away 13 million tons of textiles a year – about 85% of their clothes. This attitude of “fast fashion” is on the rise and is quickly becoming an epidemic. In an effort to help lower the numbers we’ve developed the Jean-Nome R’mix project, which encourages the community to upcycle, that is, to transform unwanted materials into new products. People can donate their jeans to be remade into something new and unexpected, say like a personalized bag. Scaling will be done through partnerships with Goodwill or local charity thrift shops in exchange for reduced cost on denim purchase in bulk and offering 6% proceeds donation.
